Hi everyone,
I’m in Annitsford and looking for advice on selling some jewellery. I’ve got a few 9ct and 18ct gold pieces, including a broken chain and a ring from an inheritance, plus some silver jewellery that’s not really wearable anymore.
I’ve tried one local jeweller but the offer seemed quite low, especially for the scrap gold. Before I try anywhere else, I wondered if people had recommendations that are worth checking out.
I’m nearby and had a similar experience with high street jewellers. I ended up using
Northern Bullion.
What I liked was that they update their gold and silver prices daily on their website, so you’ve got a rough idea of what things should be worth before you go ahead.
Auctions can work if it’s something unusual, but for broken jewellery or scrap gold I wouldn’t bother. The waiting time and fees just aren’t worth it in most cases.
I’ve used Northern Bullion as well for a mix of 18ct gold and some old silver items. They’ve got a gold and silver calculator on their website, which was handy for getting a ballpark figure before going to see them.
My advice would be not to rush into the first offer you get. I checked prices myself, then compared a couple of options. For inherited or scrap jewellery, having things weighed properly and explained makes a big difference.
