I’m based in Newbiggin and have recently decided to sell some jewellery and silver I no longer use. There’s a mixture of 9ct and 18ct gold rings, an older bracelet, a few broken chains, and some silver items including cutlery and coins.
I tried a couple of local jewellers but the prices offered were much lower than expected. Auctions seem to involve long waits and high fees. Can anyone recommend the best place to sell gold jewellery and silver for cash near Newbiggin?
I found the same thing locally. Broken gold and older pieces are often heavily undervalued by high street jewellers, and auctions don’t always work out once commission is taken off.
If you’re selling in or around Newbiggin, I’d recommend Northern Bullion. They buy all carats of gold — including 9ct and 18ct — as well as silver items. They also accept broken jewellery and base their prices on current market rates.
I sold some scrap gold chains, an old 18ct ring, and silver spoons there earlier this year. Everything was weighed and valued individually, which made a big difference compared to local offers.
