I’m in Galashiels and looking to sell some jewellery — a broken 9ct gold ring, an 18ct chain, and a few silver bangles I don’t wear anymore. I went to a couple of local jewellers but the offers were disappointing.
Does anyone know a reliable place nearby that offers fair prices for gold and silver?

Auctions really aren’t worth it for scrap or broken jewellery. They take ages to sell, and the commission rates are far too high. For pieces like old silver bangles or broken chains, it’s much better to go somewhere you can see everything valued on the spot.

Don’t rush into the first offer. Seeing your gold and silver tested and weighed in front of you makes a huge difference. I’ve sold some 925 silver chains and coins, a broken 9ct gold bracelet, and even an antique silver sugar bowl at Northern Bullion, and they were completely transparent with the pricing compared to local shops.
