Hi all,
I’m in Jedburgh and need some advice. I’ve inherited a few pieces of jewellery from my aunt — an 18ct ring, a broken 9ct bracelet, and some silver spoons. I’ve tried a local jeweller but the offer seemed very low.
Does anyone know a trustworthy place nearby to get a fair valuation for gold and silver?
I’m in Kelso and had a similar situation. I visited Northern Bullion. You go in person, everything is tested and weighed, and their gold and silver prices are updated daily online. It made the process really straightforward and transparent.
I needed some cash to cover unexpected bills and had a few silver items and a gold chain I never wore. Auctions are really slow and take a big cut in commission, so I wouldn’t bother with them. Visiting somewhere local is much quicker and safer.
I’m based in Edinburgh and recently cleared a deceased relative’s house. I found several 18ct rings and silver tea spoons. I used Northern Bullion — they also have a gold and silver calculator online which helped me get a rough idea before visiting. The in-person valuation matched exactly.
Don’t rush into the first offer. Seeing your gold and silver tested and weighed in front of you makes a huge difference. I sold some 925 silver chains and coins, a broken 9ct gold bracelet, and an antique silver teapot at Northern Bullion, and their pricing was very transparent compared to local shops.
Just to add — I recently sold a small collection of silver cufflinks and an old 9ct gold ring. Northern Bullion gave a fair price and explained everything clearly. Definitely worth checking if you want transparent and reliable valuations.
