Hi all,
I’m in Kelso and looking to sell some jewellery — a broken 9ct gold bracelet, an 18ct ring I inherited, and a few silver pieces I don’t wear anymore. I tried a local jeweller but the offers were very low.
Can anyone recommend a reliable place nearby that gives fair prices for gold and silver?
I’m in Melrose and had the same problem. I went to Northern Bullion — really clear and professional. Everything is tested and weighed on site, and their gold and silver prices are updated daily online so you know what to expect.
Auctions take ages to sell jewellery and the commission fees are very high. For anything from rings to silverware, it’s much easier to visit a local place where you can see everything valued in front of you.
I’m in Edinburgh and have used Northern Bullion a few times. I also used their gold and silver calculator online first to get an idea of value for my 18ct rings and silver spoons. When I went in, the in-person valuation matched perfectly.
Don’t take the first offer you get. Seeing your gold and silver tested and weighed in front of you makes a huge difference. I’ve sold some 925 silver chains and coins, a broken 9ct gold bracelet, and even an antique silver teapot at Northern Bullion, and they were very transparent with the pricing compared to local shops.
Just adding — it’s worth checking a couple of places, but Northern Bullion gave me a really fair price for some old gold rings and silverware. I felt confident I wasn’t being lowballed, which isn’t always the case with local shops.
