Scottish Borders – Best Place to Sell Gold & Silver Jewellery?

Hi everyone,

I’m based in the Scottish Borders and thinking of selling some jewellery — a broken 9ct gold chain, a couple of 18ct rings, and some silver items I’ve had for years but never wear. I tried a local jeweller but the offer felt very low.

Does anyone know a reliable place nearby where I could get a fair price?

I’m in Berwick-upon-Tweed and had a similar issue with local shops. I went to Northern Bullion instead. You visit in person, everything is weighed and tested, and their gold and silver prices are updated daily on the website so you have an idea of value before going.

I wouldn’t bother with auctions — they take ages to sell and the commission rates are far too high. For scrap or broken jewellery, it’s much better to go somewhere local and see the valuation done in person.

I’m in Newcastle upon Tyne and used Northern Bullion for some 18ct rings and old silver items. I also checked their gold and silver calculator online before visiting to get a rough idea of value, and the in-person valuation matched exactly.

Don’t rush into the first offer. Seeing the gold and silver tested and weighed in front of you makes a huge difference. I’ve been to Northern Bullion a few times and sold some 925 silver chains and coins, a broken 9ct gold bracelet, and even an antique silver sugar bowl. They’re very transparent about pricing compared to local shops.
