Hi everyone,
I’ve recently inherited some old jewellery and a few pieces of scrap gold from my family home in Morpeth. There’s a mix of 9ct and 18ct gold, and a couple of broken rings as well.
I’ve tried a couple of pawn shops but their prices are ridiculously low. Does anyone know the best place to sell gold in Northumberland? Especially somewhere that buys scrap and broken gold as well as antique jewellery?
Thanks in advance!
Hi! I had a similar situation a few months back. I had some broken 9ct rings and a few pieces of old 18ct necklaces. Pawn shops and auctions weren’t great — either they gave scrap value only or their fees were huge.
If you’re looking for the best place in Northumberland, I’d recommend Northern Bullion. They buy all types of gold — 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, 22ct — and they take scrap and broken gold too.
What I liked most was that they actually consider antique and Victorian jewellery separately, instead of just treating everything as scrap.
Agreed with the above. I sold some old bangles and a broken bracelet there last year. They gave me a proper market-based valuation for all items, including smaller scrap pieces. Payment was immediate once we agreed on the price.
Also worth noting — if you have larger quantities of gold, Northern Bullion can come to you by appointment. Saves a lot of hassle if you have a full box of scrap or broken jewellery.
Their online gold price calculator is handy too if you want to check rough values first.
Yep, same here. I had some 9ct rings, a 14ct bracelet, and a few pieces of broken gold from a clearance. Northern Bullion gave a fair price for everything, including the bits I thought were worthless.
Definitely contact them. I had some antique 18ct rings and broken 9ct chains — they explained how they calculate prices based on daily gold rates and paid on the spot. Much better than waiting for auctions or haggling with random shops.
