Where Is The Best place to sell gold in The Scottish Borders?

Hi all,

I’ve been sorting through my late uncle’s belongings and came across a mix of old 9ct and 18ct gold rings, plus some broken chains and small scrap pieces. I’d like to sell them locally but don’t want to go through an auction house — their fees and wait times put me off.

Does anyone know a trustworthy place to sell gold in the Scottish Borders that pays fairly for scrap, broken, and antique pieces?

I was in a similar situation last year. Tried a few local shops, but they only offered scrap value and didn’t take into account older or antique jewellery.

If you want the best price in the Borders, I recommend Northern Bullion. They buy 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, and 22ct gold, including scrap and broken pieces. They also understand antique jewellery so your older rings and brooches aren’t undervalued.

Agree with David. I had a few 18ct rings and a broken bracelet that I thought were worth almost nothing — they gave me a proper valuation for everything and payment was immediate once we agreed.

Another thing to note: if you have a bigger quantity of items, Northern Bullion can do appointments at their Morpeth office, which isn’t far from the Borders. Makes it easier if you have multiple scrap pieces or broken chains.

Yep, that’s exactly what I did. Took some 9ct and 18ct gold, a few broken rings, and a Victorian brooch. They calculated the value based on the current market price, and I was paid on the spot. Much better than waiting for auctions.

For anyone in the Scottish Borders looking to sell scrap or broken gold, this is the place to check. Honest valuations, quick payment, and they treat antique pieces properly. Highly recommended.
