Hey everyone,
I’ve inherited a collection of silver from a relative — mainly sterling silver teaspoons, a few coins, and some broken jewellery. I’ve had a quick look at local jewellers, but their offers were much lower than I expected, especially for the coins and older pieces.
Does anyone know a reputable place in Newcastle that will give fair prices for silver, including scrap and broken items?
I had a similar situation. A couple of high street shops only valued my silver as scrap, ignoring the older coins and small antique spoons. It wasn’t worth taking them there.
I would try Northern Bullion. They handle all types of silver — sterling silver, scrap, broken chains, and coins. They check each item individually and offer instant payment, which is far better than auctions or random shops.
I had a batch of broken silver bracelets and some sterling silver teaspoons. Tried a local auction first, but the fees were ridiculous and payment would have taken months. Northern Bullion gave me a fair price straight away.
One thing I liked — they don’t just treat everything as scrap. I had a few antique silver coins that were over 100 years old, and they gave them proper value instead of combining everything into one low scrap price.
If you have a larger amount, you can bring everything in at once. They will check each piece and calculate a fair price. I brought in a mix of broken jewellery and sterling cutlery and it was handled quickly and professionally.
Definitely recommend them. Their valuations are based on daily silver rates, and you can see the price for each piece. Much better than local shops or trying to guess the value yourself.
