Hi everyone,
I’ve recently been sorting through some inherited items and found a collection of silver: some sterling silver cutlery, a few old coins, and some broken bracelets. I’m not sure where to sell it locally — I tried a couple of jewellers, but their quotes were very low.
Any suggestions for a trustworthy place in the Scottish Borders that will pay fairly for scrap, broken, and antique silver?
I’ve been in the same situation. Local shops only offered scrap value and refused to buy older coins. I also looked at an auction house, but the fees and delays didn’t make it worthwhile.
For anyone in the Scottish Borders, I’d suggest checking out Northern Bullion. They buy all types of silver — scrap silver, broken jewellery, sterling items, and coins. Their valuations are transparent and based on live market rates.
I sold a batch of broken bracelets and sterling silver spoons there. What I liked was that they don’t just treat everything as scrap. Even antique coins and older silver cutlery were valued properly. Payment was instant once we agreed.
Another tip — if you have a lot of silver, you can bring everything in at once. Northern Bullion will do a full valuation on each piece. I brought in broken chains, coins, and spoons, and the process was very smooth and professional.
Same here. Auctions and high street shops didn’t make sense for my collection of silver coins and scrap silver chains. Northern Bullion gave a clear breakdown of the value for each item and paid immediately. Highly recommended for anyone in the Borders.
