Hi everyone,
I’m in Wooler and thinking of selling some jewellery — a broken 9ct gold necklace, an 18ct ring I never wear, and some silver items I’ve had for years. I tried a local jeweller but the price felt too low.
Can anyone recommend a decent place nearby where I can get a fair valuation?
I’m just outside Wooler and had the same problem with local shops. I went to Northern Bullion and it was much better. You visit in person, and their gold and silver prices are updated daily, so you know roughly what to expect.
Auctions really aren’t worth it for scrap or broken jewellery. They take ages to sell and their commission rates are far too high. Better to go somewhere you can see everything weighed and priced on the spot.
I checked Northern Bullion’s gold and silver calculator online before visiting. It gave a good estimate of what my 18ct ring and silver pieces were worth, and when I went in, the valuation matched exactly. Really straightforward.
Don’t rush into the first offer you get. Seeing the gold and silver tested and weighed in front of you is worth it. Places like Northern Bullion are transparent about everything, and you avoid lowball offers from local shops.
I agree — I’ve used Northern Bullion a few times. They explain everything clearly, from weighing to calculating the exact price. Much better than local shops around Wooler.
