Good Morning AFTA, I am seeking information of a reputable house clearance company who can clear my aunts extremely cluttered and hoarded house in Camden.

My aunt has moved into residential care due to her home no longer being accessible because of the extreme amount of clutter.

We are looking to sell her house shortly after the clearance has been carried out, we were looking at having this done sometime next month.

The house is a three bedroom detached with a small garage, it has three bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a garage.

My aunts bedrooms have not been touched in several years, the hallway leading to the bedrooms has been barricaded with mountains of clothing, rubbish, books and bags full of god knows what.

The bath in the bathroom is piled with mountains of empty wine bottles.

The living room is so bad with rubbish and clutter that I believe it could have a mouse infestation due to the stench.

The dining room has mountains of boxes, I believe they could be full of kitchen ware, books and bric-a-brac.

The kitchen is grimy with grease covering everything, my aunt must have still cooked even with the huge amount of clutter covering the bench tops and floor area.

The garage has barely anything in, a few tool boxes, two bikes and a lawn mower.

There is also an old rusty car on the driveway, is this something that a house clearance company can remove? If so, how much does this cost as the car is not derivable?

It could take up to a week to clear the house, amongst the vast amount of rubbish and clutter is some new items including clothing, books, gift sets etc that could be donated to charity, do house clearance companies donate these type of items?

As I am elderly and can’t bend down, I am unable to carry out the clearance myself, I would need assistance with finding my aunts jewellery for her, she says it is in one of the bedrooms but is unsure where, is this something they can do for me?

Thank you, Anne.

Good Afternoon Anne, In December I hired a company called The Cluttered House Clearance Company to clear my great grans extremely cluttered and hoarded house in Camden.

My gran had been living in absolute squalor for the past several years, my family and the social worker agreed that she must be moved into a nursing home with full time care.

Once my gran had been moved into a nursing home, I had to arrange to have her home cleared so that we could sell it for her.

Due to my grans hoarding problem and her compulsive buying problem, her home had become so overly cluttered with vast amounts of rubbish, clutter and food waste. I decided that the job was too big for us to do and hired The Cluttered House Clearance Company.

My gran had lived in her living room for the past several years as none of the bedrooms could be accessed, the whole upstairs of her home had not been touched in over ten years, when her hoarding problem first began, she filled her bedrooms with mountains of junk, and once the bedrooms were full, she moved to the passage and upstairs bathroom.

The dining room was filled from floor to ceiling with mountains of clutter, furniture and magazines.

The kitchen was full of black bags containing rubbish and food waste, the bench tops were piled high with tins of food and cleaning products.

The living room had a double mattress on the floor where my gran slept, surrounding the mattress was piles of junk, boxes, rubbish and clutter, my gran had made a passageway amongst all the clutter where she could maneuver around.

My gran would make excuses for us not to visit her home she was so embarrassed by the state of it and finally admitted that she could no longer live like this.

The house was in such a bad condition that even after The Cluttered House Clearance Company cleared it, we had to have a lot of work done in order to sell it.

On the day of the appointment, the team arrived at 9am to begin the clearance, the team were very professional and were in full uniform.

I explained my embarrassment, but they assured me that there was nothing to be embarrassed about and that they had seen worse, they made me feel at ease straight away.

It took four days to completely clear the house and the garage.

On the first day, the cluttered house clearance specialists cleared the kitchen, garage and dining room.

On the second day they cleared the living room, they used the dining room as a place to put boxes full of items that could be donated to charity, and items that they thought may hold a value to me and my family.

On the third day, the specialists cleared the hallway and two of the bedrooms upstairs, whilst clearing my grans bedrooms, they found £3000 in old money, my grans wedding albums and my grans jewellery, they gave these to me straight away, when I gave these to my gran, she was over the moon, she thought she had lost her jewellery many years ago.

On the fourth day, the hoarded house clearance specialists managed to finish the upstairs, clearing the bathroom, two storage cupboards and the third bedroom.

Amongst all the clutter in the third bedroom, they found another £2000 and more photograph albums.

In the garage was an old car that had been situated there for several years and had become rusty, the team had no problem removing this for me, it did not cost any extra.

During the whole process, the team comforted me, they were fast working and made this daunting job seem easy, they managed to donate three whole van loads of bric-a-brac, clothing, books and even some furniture to charities in the Camden area.

I can highly recommend The Cluttered House Clearance Company to you, they truly are specialists when it comes to clearing extremely cluttered and hoarded houses, the hoarded house clearance specialists are fully qualified to carry out an extremely cluttered house clearance and are very professional whilst doing so.
