Hi, I am searching for a company who can help me with decluttering my extremely cluttered house in Hackney.

For almost 15 years I have been a compulsive hoarder, my house is that bad that I can no longer move around.

15 years ago I went through a bad period, this lead me to start hoarding and I haven’t been able to stop since then. I need to let this part of my life go and move on, I need a specialist house clearance company who can clear my four bedroom extremely cluttered and hoarded house for me.

As well as clearing my house, I want certain items found for me and certain items kept in place too.

I have lived in the living room for the past four years as all four bedrooms can not be accessed, my hoarding is so bad that I have barricaded the hallway with boxes of bric-a-brac, clutter and even rubbish, I believed that all of this stuff had some sort of sentimental value to me but have realised that it is only junk, I want to move on and have a fresh start, living amongst the extreme amount of clutter is making me ill.

In all four bedrooms I want only the wardrobes to remain, my jewellery which was passed down by my mum is in one of the dressers in the master bedroom, I would also like this kept, absolutely everything else including carpets can go, everything in the wardrobes can be cleared too, just the wardrobes themselves to remain.

The upstairs bathroom is very dirty, the bath is filled with bathroom rubbish that has piled up over the years, everything in the bathroom can go.

There is two storage cupboards upstairs that are filled with clothes, shoes and bedding, all of this can be cleared too.

Downstairs there is a living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room and bathroom.

Like i said, I have lived in the living room for quite some time, this has become so overly cluttered that there is no floor space, I have been living on a two seater sofa that is partially covered with rubbish. Everything in the living room can be cleared apart from a leather topped desk that is buried under mountains of rubbish.

The dining room has a dining table and four chairs, a large sideboard, two armchairs, a footstool and a fridge freezer, this is all buried amongst boxes of bric-a-brac, books and bags of rubbish, the only thing I want to remain in this room is the four dining chairs, the table and everything else is to be cleared.

The kitchen has not been touched for many years, there are boxes full of crockery, tinned food, cleaning products and rubbish, the bench tops are piled with rubbish and the fridge freezer is full of food that has been there for years, everything including all appliances needs to be cleared from the kitchen, all drawers and cupboards will need to be emptied too.

The utility room has roughly ten boxes of garden tools, plant food etc, I want these to remain, there is a washing machine and dryer which I want to remain, the only thing to be removed from the utility room is a large school cupboard and all the contents in it.

The downstairs bathroom is clean and clutter free, this does not need to be touched.

All the carpets throughout the house including landing and stair carpets need to be cleared.

As well as having a complete house clearance, I would like the house to be cleaned afterwards, is this a service that a house clearance company can offer?

Any details of a reputable house clearance company who specialise in clearing verminous and cluttered houses would be much appreciated.

I just want to move on with my life and live a cluttered free one.

There are mountains of stuff that could potentially be donated to charity too.

Thank you. Sylvia.

Hi Sylvia, so sorry to hear about this, I went through the same thing for ten years of my life until I decided to bite the bullet and have my house cleared.

Last year I had a specialist house clearance company in to clear my verminous and extremely cluttered house in Hackney.

I used to be a compulsive hoarder and would buy mountains of junk every day, my home became so overly cluttered and verminous due to my disorder, I could no longer live in the filth, and I was becoming depressed.

I consulted with AFTA and done extensive research to find a company who not only specialised in clearing extremely cluttered and hoarded houses but who would also not judge me for the state that my house was in.

I found a company called The Cluttered House Clearance Company, after emailing back and forth, receiving information on the services they offer and receiving a quote, I decided to book their services.

At 9am on the day of the appointment, a team of three fully uniformed cluttered house clearance specialists arrived to clear my house.

Initially I was so embarrassed when the team arrived, but they were very kind and assured me that they had seen worse houses than mine, they made me feel at ease straight away and never once judged me.

I explained everything via email that I wanted clearing and what I wanted to stay, the team showed me a list that I had provided to make sure I hadn’t missed anything that I wanted to be kept, they began the clearance straight away.

Once I saw progress and began seeing empty rooms, I felt such a relief, it was finally happening.

On the first day, the team began clearing downstairs, upstairs was so cluttered that it could not be accessed without the staircase being cleared.

They cleared the living room and dining room on the first day, a huge amount of books, bric-a-brac and some small items of furniture was donated to charity.

On the second day, the guys cleared the kitchen and conservatory, they stuck to their word and kept aside everything that I wanted to remain, the team were finding small amounts of cash lying around which they were giving to me straight away, I didn’t even know it was there.

On the third day, the team cleared the staircase, the landing upstairs and two of the bedrooms, they found all of my jewellery, photograph albums and all of my paperwork amongst the vast amounts of rubbish.

Finally, on the fourth day, the specialists cleared the third bedroom, cleared all the carpets throughout my house and cleaned the whole house afterwards.

An amazing service provided by The Cluttered House Clearance Company, not only did they do an amazing job with clearing and cleaning my extremely cluttered house, but the team were very professional and understanding of my situation.

A huge amount of new clothing, books, bric-a-brac, crockery, appliances and furniture got donated to charities in the Hackney area.

I can’t recommend The Cluttered House Clearance Company enough, they have completely changed my life, I am now living a clutter free and stress free life, I won’t let hoarding rule my life ever again, the best thing I have done is use their services.

You can find their contact information on their website at http://www.clutteredhouseclearance.com

All the best, Jade.
