Good Morning, I am looking to find information on house clearance companies that specialise in clearing hoarders houses in Havering – London.

Four years ago my husband and I divorced, shortly after this I started hoarding.

It has been three years since I have let anyone into my home and feel that its about time I pull myself together, move on from the divorce, and get my home back to normal again.

My home has become so full of mountains of clutter, the clutter mainly consists of bags containing new items that I have purchased.

After my divorce I felt really low about myself, I continuously purchased things that would make me feel pretty, makeup, clothing, shoes, handbags etc, every day after work I would go into the town center and spend a few hundred pounds on stuff, four years down the line I have spent an absolute fortune and living in a very cluttered house.

Because most of the clutter is new, I would want the majority of it to be donated rather than go to landfill, I could have sold most of it but fear that if I don’t get rid of it all at once, I will never let it go.

I will be staying with my parents whilst my home is being cleared, prior to the clearance I will have removed everything that I want kept, everything remaining in my home can be removed.

Because the carpets have not been visible for years, they will be thick with dust, I want all the carpets removed too.

My home is in Havering – London, it is a four bedroom semi-detached house with a garage.

Two of the bedrooms are filled with stuff that belonged to my ex-husband, he no longer wants any of it so it can all be cleared.

One of the bedrooms used to be my dressing room until I filled it full with clutter, buried under the clutter is a dressing table and stool, two tall chests of drawers, a wardrobe and an occasional chair, none of these items of furniture can be seen, they are completely covered with bags and boxes of stuff.

My main bedroom has a king-size bed and mattress, three double wardrobes, a chest of drawers and two bedside tables, there is a 50-inch television, about 300 carrier bags of new clothing, makeup etc, and loose clothing, shoes etc covering the floor, my bed is not covered as this is where I stay, I want the bed removed and all the furniture in the house.

Once the house has been cleared I plan to have a fresh start, this was once a family home for me and my ex-husband and I have seemed to dwell on that, I need to now make it my home.

The bathrooms don’t need to be cleared.

The lounge has a large six seated corner sofa and matching stool, a coffee table, a television and stand, a desk and chair and a nest of tables, surrounding the furniture is mountains of clothing, stacks of books, bags of new purchases, boxes of shoes etc, the carpet is barely visible.

The dining room has a glass topped dining table with four leather chairs, on top of the dining table is boxes piled near to the ceiling, these are mainly full of crockery, ornaments etc, there Is also a sideboard containing cutlery, place mats etc and a mahogany standard lamp in the corner.

There is two storage cupboards in the hallway, these can’t be accessed until the hallway has been cleared, inside them is a vacuum cleaner, cleaning products, an ironing board etc.

The hallway is quite bad, when I would come home from shopping, I would throw my bags down in the hallway never to be seen again, the bags have sort of made a flooring, the carpet can’t be seen because of them.

The kitchen isn’t too bad, I use it every day to cook in, I still want everything removed from the cupboards and drawers and all white goods to be taken, I want nothing to remain in the house, all the furniture and appliances is what me and my ex-husband chose together, I want a fresh start.

I haven’t used the garage in years, it is filled with stuff that belonged to my ex including tools, an old motorbike, some ladders etc, this can all be cleared.

After having my home cleared, I would like it to be cleaned too.

Details of specialist house clearance companies operating in the Havering area would be much appreciated.

Thank you, Sophia.

Good Morning Sophia,

Last year my husband and I divorced, I had the same issues where I felt really low about myself, and I too filled my home with items that felt made me happy, but none of the things I purchased made me any happier, instead my life got worse the more my home became cluttered.

After my ex moved out, I slowly began filling my home with junk, I would spend nights buying things online and visiting boot sales in Havering.

I realised that I had become a hoarder when I invited my mum around for a cup of tea, she hadn’t visited in a while and was mortified by how my home looked. She sat me down on the sofa and explained how the clutter had become a problem and that I needed to do something about it.

I consulted with AFTA to try to find a reputable house clearance firm in the Havering area, I came across The Cluttered House Clearance Company, I read that many people have used them for clearing their cluttered houses and decided to go ahead with their services.

My home is a three bedroom bungalow in Havering, with two bathrooms, a lounge, a conservatory, a kitchen, a dining room and a garage.

Prior to the specialists arriving, I had removed everything that I wanted to keep, everything else was to be removed, like you, I purchased mountains of brand-new items, the team managed to donate all the new items and some small bits of furniture to charities in Havering.

I was embarrassed by the way I was living, so I posted the keys for my home to their head office, Tiffany confirmed via email once the keys had been received and gave me a date for the clearance to go ahead.

Because my home was very cluttered and I wanted all furniture and carpets removed, the clearance took two days, within these two days, the team kept me updated with how the clearance was going.

From start to finish, the clearance went smoothly, the team kept me updated, they sent me photographs of my empty house, and even found one of my rings which I had totally forgotten existed.

Once the team had finished, I asked that they post the keys through the letter box as I had a spare set, Tiffany emailed me photographs of my empty home along with an invoice, she called me up to take payment over the telephone and also sent a copy of my card receipt via email.

Overall, I was very pleased with the professionalism and how quick the team worked, I can highly recommend The Cluttered House Clearance to clear any kind of hoarded and cluttered house.

You can contact them at clutteredclearances@yahoo.com

I hope this helps.

Hi Sophia, you are not the only one, I too became a hoarder after my divorce, it gave me great comfort when I would spend money on myself.

I hired The Cluttered House Clearance Company too to clear my home, I asked them to clear everything except the furniture, carpets and appliances, and had my house cleaned too.

The team were amazing and very understanding of my situation.

5*** service from them.
